Exercise of the Day

The exercise of the day that will build muscle and give some cardio benefits is the wood chop. This exercise is executed just like chopping wood, however instead of an axe u will have a weight of some kind. I did three sets of 10, and there are 3 exercises one down the middle and one to either side to target your obliques.
When you are "chopping" make sure to squat down as low as you can go in order to utilize your abs to a greater extent.

This exercise will definitely make you sweat!  :)

For more reference here is a youtube video demonstrating the technique.

Bodyweight Exercise

I have been trying to get into the habit of exercise for the past...forever. If you read my post from last week I expressed frustration in exercise that I thought that I was not doing enough exercise to provide the results that I want, with the figure that I currently have. I hate to say that today was the first day that I have exercised since my Saturday workout. The main reason behind this is because I don't want to over do it and hurt myself. Another reason being is that it is hot, well hot for me.

Today I did exercise however and I noticed that from Saturday I haven't felt sore, or overly tired and I sleep better and wake up at about the same time every morning. When I wasn't trying I had been waking up around noon if I was lucky and still not wanting to get out of bed.

What I have been doing are bodyweight exercises. At this point I have been doing mostly squats so I can work the muscles in my legs to assist in burning fat around my body. In women the leg muscles are the biggest and potentially the strongest, and since pushing myself and my limits a few days ago I have already noticed a difference.

Another thing that I have been doing is to drink lots of water, at least 64 oz. of water daily, which isn't possible everyday but on days that I am at home that is what I do and it helps to keep my appetite for crap down. At this point those are the two biggest changes that I have made to my life that have made and immediate positive result. That and Netflix.

Exercise Bullshit

So I know it has been a while since I have posted anything, but I am currently on this kind of kick where I want to exercise. Some people feel like Weight Watchers is the key to all of their problems but I am not one of those, I have tried Weight Watchers twice and both times I lost about 10 lbs. then gained it back, the biggest reason being that you have to pay for strangers to support you (at the actual meetings) and I am just enough of a loaner to not dig that kind of environment in addition to having to choose if going to the meetings was good enough to give up my monthly food allowance I dropped out both times then gained that first 10 lbs. right back. Since then I have found a website/blog that I find to be motivating and wonderful, http://www.bodyrock.tv/

The host is charming, cute and totally buff. She kicks ass several times per week and I have been telling my chubby family and friends about her since I stumbled across her youtube account. Now here is the problem, I do not have the capacity to actually do most of the stuff she does and it drives me up the damn wall. I found out today that I can't even jump. Being so limited as far as my range of motion actual strength is infuriating, I know that I am overweight and it makes me uncomfortable, but how long is it going to take to get to a point where I don't feel restricted in my own skin?

Watermelon Apron

I had made this apron a few weeks ago and had never gotten around to posting the pictures of it. I think it only reason it took me so long is because I was afraid to cut the fabric incorrectly, but no harm done! It is only a half apron but I have some fabric for another apron and this time I want to make a full one. Also I have been making another Doctor Who project but I havent told anyone what it is incase I cannot execute my idea but it is almost done. Wish me luck!

New crochet earrings!

These earrings are quite large but very lightweight. It is hard to see but the yarn used is a pretty sage green. I think I will be making more of these to put in my Etsy shop.

Doctor Who: The Complete First Series
As a whole I really enjoyed the season, however if you would have asked me about a year ago to watch any Doctor Who without David Tennant I would not have any of it. I wanted to see David Tennant on my screen and no other doctor was going to be good enough. Now that there is a new Doctor, who I like, just not as much as Tennant, I decided to be open to the 9th Doctor Chris Eccleston, and I found him to be a lot better than I remember.

Overall I liked the season as it had almost all of the characters of the second season and the Doctor is the Doctor. I am glad that i went through and started from the beginning as now the relationship between the Doctor and Rose makes a bit more sense.

It would not have been possible for me to watch any of this however without Netflix, and my Wii, for these things I am eternally grateful and I would recommend these for everyone. As an FYI all of the current Doctor Who seasons to season 4 are on the
instant queue, so they can be watched right away!

It has been a while...

It has been a while... since i have done a lot of things. Since I have weeded the garden, taken a long walk outside, and longer still that I have sewn anything.

While it is not healthy, or fun, just to sit around on the couch forever, I decided that I needed to do something with my time... which is how i came up with the Miss Piggy pouch. I found the tutorial online and decided that "I can make that", and since i have had such good luck with my crocheting over the winter months I apparently felt that I could "grow".

Well I decided that I am a pain in my ass. The last time that I sewed anything decent I was probably 8 or 9, and I was taking lessons, which were the only kind of lessons I would consent to, and for some reason I decided that I wasn't going to go anymore. That being about 15 years ago and already having a sewing machine, (thanks mom!) I figured it would be a piece of cake.
Well kinda.

The instructions were clear and there were lots of pictures, but I decided that I wanted my little bag to be bigger than the tutorial, which should have been fine if i hadn't gotten a zipper that was barely enough to close the original bag. Considering that my math is the suck I think it came out pretty good.

And Miss Piggy is awesome.

For anyone who would like the original tutorial...
